Robert H. Waters papers, 1853-1884.

Business papers and accounts of a ship captain and merchant of Boston, Mass. Ship's papers include account books, insurance, receipts, commissions, instructions on ship cargoes, and correspondence from George and Theodore Chase relating to the ship Buena Vista, the clippers Eagle Wing and Industry, the schooner Edie Waters, the bark Imaum, and the steamer Reindeer. Waters's interest in shipping to China is included here. Business papers include correspondence from Waters's father-in-law John Banchor, a business agent and commission merchant in New York for Waters's company Felton and Waters, a distillery in Boston; papers relating to the rum and liquor industry and the price of molasses; and papers regarding Waters's investment in F.F. Holbrook and Company. John Banchor correspondence includes accounts of Banchor's partnership in Banchor and Boyden, a Boston merchant company.
